It feels like just within a week the use of ai in software and game development has grown exponentially. Ig the introduction of opus 5.5 and other new ai models allowed people to use them to reverse engineer some code, which started the trend of people using ai to mod and merge different games together. Then we got Steve from Minecraft invading and conquering other games. I’ve heard mixed opinions about whether this use of ai in modding games was good or bad. Either way the technique behind this continued to grow, where it not only affected games but software as a whole too. Someone was able to recreate most of adobe’s features which is usually locked behind subscription fees. All culminating to today where I learned of the anyps5 project that basically is a digital version of the ps5 console on pc nearing completion due to ai. This is definitely ironic as a Sony recently pushed for digital games only where ownership is now licensed, to now having their console be digitized. I’m curious to how else people will continue to use this technology. But I wouldn’t be surprised if once big companies start getting affected, that’s when we start seeing a bunch of ai regulations.
